Karen White To Show In Western Art Round Up

Western Art Round Up!

The Gladewater Center for the Arts will kick off the second annual Western Art Round Up on Saturday, June 1, and will be shown through June 8 (10 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily) at the Art Elite Gallery, located at 110 North Main in Gladewater, Texas, running concurrently with the Gladewater Roundup rodeo events week.


On Saturday, June 1 (5-9 p.m.), there will be a special reception for all, with refreshments and live entertainment. Tyler artist, Bill Williamson, will be doing quick-draw portraits. Jay Pepper, local artisan of mountain dulcimers, will be demonstrating his music skills. Cowboy Roy will be entertaining us with his vocal stylings. And we'll throw in some surprises to make for some extra excitement.

Karen White In Walking Horse Gallery Exhibit

The new Walking Horse Gallery in Ben Wheeler, Texas will hold its grand opening on Saturday, March 23, featuring the art of several western artists, including Monty Graham, Karen White, David Ackerson, Bill Williamson, John Dietz, Gaylon Dingler and more. The official grand opening will be held from 6-8 pm and will feature the unveiling of a bronze sculpture by Bill Williamson. Come earlier in the day... there will be cowboy reenactments, cowboy poetry, music, refreshments and just plain fun in the small artist community of Ben Wheeler. The western art exhibit will continue at least through April 28!

Photographer, Karen White, Wins Awards

Texas equine and rodeo photographer, Karen White, won the prestigious Christmas Card Award at the 30th Anniversary Texas Bank & Trust Photo Competition. "Winter Coats," her photo of four horses proudly wearing their colorful coats in the snow, will be featured on this year's Christmas cards for the bank. Karen also won two honorable mentions in the special Spirit of Texas category.

More than 146 amateur and professional photographers submitted almost 600 photographs in this year's competition. Primary juror was Eric Draper, former chief photographer and special assistant to President George Bush. Awards and prizes were presented to first, second, third and two honorable mentions in each of five categories, plus special bank selected awards. Winners will be featured in the 2013 Texas Bank & Trust calendars.

Karen White To Show At Western Art Round Up

Karen White, equine and rodeo photographer, will be participating in the Western Art Round Up! to be held at the Art Elite Gallery, 110 North Main, Gladewater, Texas, June 2-9, from 3-7 p.m. daily. The reception is open to the public on June 2.
While still a small girl, in love with horses, art and photography, Karen White started with number two pencils and small plastic cameras. She graduated as Valedictorian at Union Grove High School, but didn't take an art class until Kilgore College, where she graduated at the top of the Applied Arts division with an Associate degree with Phi Theta Kappa honors.
This all led to computers and graphic design and later to Canon DSLR cameras, rodeos and, of course, horses.
If you are at a local rodeo, race track or barrel race, chances are you've seen Karen on the side lines or wandering around the livestock lots with one camera at her eye and another hanging from her shoulder. "I try to capture the horse's essence, intelligence and...
